Selection Principles of Pipe Fitting Connection Methods
The connection method of pipe fittings determines installation efficiency, sealing reliability and later maintenance convenience, and shall be selected based on pressure, medium, pipe diameter and maintenance frequency. Welded connections (butt welding, socket welding) provide strong sealing and high pressure bearing capacity, suitable for industrial main pipelines with high temperature, high pressure, flammable and explosive media; large-diameter fittings mostly adopt butt welding process. Threaded connection is flexible and detachable, mostly used for small-diameter, low-pressure civil pipelines and instrument interfaces. Flanged connection is easy to disassemble and assemble with stable sealing, suitable for connection between pipelines and valves/equipment, facilitating later maintenance and replacement. Socket connection is easy to construct, suitable for plastic and cast iron fittings, mostly used in buried water supply and drainage pipeline networks. Clamp connection enables fast installation, suitable for low-pressure, large-diameter water supply and drainage and fire pipelines.
